| The Warrior Diet |
 |
Review
Summary |
Many recent diets such as the Atkins Diet and the South Beach focus almost primarily on the food intake aspect of the diet. The Warrior Diet takes a different approach and puts a significant amount of its focus on the exercise and fitness aspects, as well as the timing of meals, in this weight loss program. The Warrior Diet claims to be based on the ancient human instinct of survival, and constitutes and entirely new way of living.
The Warrior Diet touts three major principles on its homepage. First, claims to follow ancient biologically engrained cycles that involve overeating and under-eating. Second, the Warrior Diet claims to get to the bottom of the food chain and eat the most basic and natural foods possible. Third, it claims that a key to weight loss is exercise while under-eating.

 | Concept |
|
The Warrior Diet is based on under-eating during the day and overeating at night which is in stark to many diets that recommend frontloading caloric intake. The diet essentially advises you to only eat one large meal per day, and to eat that meal at night. On a daily basis, your under-eating cycle will last between 10 to 18 hours depending on your body clock. This under-eating or fasting period begins about 4 hours after the one nightly meal has been consumed.
During the under-eating phase in the daytime hours, eating should be limited to snacks of raw fruits or vegetables. Light proteins such as poached eggs or yogurt are also allowed. It is during this under-eating day time period when exercise should be performed.
All food groups are allowed during the nightly meal, or over-eating period, but it is recommended to consume carbohydrates last. You should stop eating when you feel full. These instructions appear extremely vague, especially when considering that many overweight people may have a history of not being able to stop eating at the appropriate times.
The Warrior diet claims that most diets fail because this alleged natural biological tendency to feed at night is ignored. It also claims that the notion that food is needed as fuel throughout the day is merely a myth and that fasting during the day and binging is not an unhealthy practice. Rather, the Warrior Diet claims that this is optimal.

 | Diet Lifestyle |
|
The lifestyle change for the Warrior Diet will be a drastic one for most. It will require a complete overhaul of your eating plans. The daytime under-eating may prove to be very difficult for many, and it is doubtful that most people can adhere to these guidelines. It may also be difficult for some to exercise on nearly empty stomachs without experiencing feelings of faintness. This diet lifestyle appears to be somewhat risky and counterintuitive.

 | Final Thoughts |
|
The Warrior Diet is certainly a unique approach to a weight loss approach. It basically recommends an eating pattern that is in direct opposition to the bulk of scientifically backed diet recommendations. Fasting all day and then binging at night, is in stark contract to the recommended lifestyle of eating four to five small meals throughout the day making sure to never skip breakfast.
While there may be some benefits to the Warrior Diet, we would advise anyone to take a more conventional approach and follow more moderate eating modification such as a simple reduction in portion sizes. A simple diet modification such as this is made much more attainable by using a supplement that contains Hoodia, as it would be effective in controlling hunger cravings.
