Review
Summary |
Maximum Fat Loss: You Don’t Have a Weight Problem! is a weight loss book written by Ted Broer, who is a trained nutritionists, but also refers to himself as an exercise physiologist. Broer has penned many different books, many of which take a slightly different approach to weight loss. We are curious how one person can endorse so many different programs and wonder what the purpose of so many different books may be.
This weight loss program encourages readers to “consider fat to be the number one enemy.” Broer does use a fun tone throughout the book, which some may motivate some readers to action. Though, we are more concerned about the actual content, which is why we will study this program in further detail to determine its potential effectiveness in generating actual weight loss.

 | Concept |
|
Broer takes issue with some diets out on the market, and specifically says readers should avoid high-carb/low-fat diets. He states that Americans on a whole, are consuming less fat, but are not becoming fitter. He does feel these types of diets are not good for overall health and suggests readers use his approach instead. He encourages a balanced diet and recommends dieters also cut down on carbs. This book does include some meal plans and “snacking tips” so readers know what foods to “avoid” and what foods to consume.
We find it interesting that Broer comes from a standpoint that high-carb/low-fat diets are all the craze. Currently, many diets suggest users cut down on their carbohydrate intake and also suggest a more balanced meal plan. Furthermore, there are also many diets that encourage users to take the opposite approach and to consume fatty foods and low carbs. We would’ve liked to see what Broer has to say about this type of diet, but he does not address this issue.

 | Lifestyle |
|
We are concerned that this program does not emphasis a fitness program. While it does provide rather detailed advice on what foods should be eaten and what should be avoided, it lacks a strong workout program. We do find this odd since consistent workouts have been shown to generate weight loss and muscle gain while also promoting cardiovascular health.
|
 | Positives |
|
• Offers meal plans
• Gives suggestions on what to shop for
• Developed by a nutritionist
|
 | Negatives |
|
• Does not provide a detailed workout program
• Spends time disparaging other diet plans
• Author has created several different weight loss programs
• No cited research
|
 | Final Thoughts |
|
This book will most likely interest those dieters who are attracted to the enticing promises the author makes or who has found success on Broer’s previous diets. Though, we are concerned why the author feels the need to cut down current diets. He does not even hit a popular trend at the moment, and do suspect Broer took this tactic to lend him a more authoritative voice.
We do want to mention the convenience of modern, capsule-based supplements. Such a product can enhance most diet programs, especially ones that contain effective appetite suppressant and patented fat burners. For those consumers who are interested in Broer’s diet program this book can be found for as little as $4 online at independent retailer sites.
