| Dr. Perricone Three Day Diet |
Review
Summary |
Dr. Nicholas Perricone’s Three-Day Nutritional Face-lift™ claims to give your skin the same results that a face-lift would simply by eating salmon 2-3 times per day, accompanied by fresh fruits and vegetables. The high-protein, low-carb diet eliminates refined sugars and starches.
Upon signing up for the free electronic newsletter, you are given access to the 3-day diet; a daily meal plan complete with serving sizes and several choices for variety.
This diet is supposed to jump-start the satisfied customer into a 28-day diet plan, The Perricone Promise – Look Younger, Live Longer in Three Easy Steps; the book outlining this diet and its benefits retails at $27.95.

 | The Plan |
Foods that are rich in antioxidants are good for the skin – but is just three days of consumption enough to reduce wrinkles, virtually reducing the signs of aging? Probably not; but the 28-day diet might. The diet itself sounds easy to follow compared to most, especially if you’re fond of salmon; salmon is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which have been shown to slow the signs of aging in the skin. Tofu is offered as a protein alternative for those who do not eat fish; whether or not this works as effectively is unclear as there are so many kinds and no specific type is recommended.

 | Diet Lifestyle: |
Individuals open to experimenting with simple diets to try to improve the quality of their skin, particularly those who tend to consume large amounts of sugars and breads may be pleased with this diet if it is followed strictly. Giving the body a break from unhealthy indulgences and flushing out the system periodically is extremely beneficial in keeping it balanced and functioning efficiently.
 | Positives |
• Diet is well-balanced
• Diet is high in antioxidants & omega 3 fatty acids
 | Negatives |
• Email address must be entered before diet plan is revealed
• Web site does not post any testimonials
• Seems to be more of a marketing scheme
• High dosages of fish may increase toxicity of mercury
 | Final Thoughts |
As far as “cleansing” diets go, this one seems more satisfying than most; it requires that fatty acids from the salmon, the fruit can help satisfy sugar cravings, it suggests light, healthy snacks and still allows for caffeine consumption through black or green teas, both of which contain antioxidants. Stripping the diet of harmful toxins for even a short period of time, while staying nourished and hydrated, is bound to get visible results but perhaps not the “dramatic” ones he claims.
Many books have been written outlining the benefits of raw foods, “detox” and other cleansing diets. This 3-day diet seems like more of a marketing ploy to encourage purchase of Dr. Perricone’s book than a true weight management answer.
